About Us

ABOUT SALCO, INC.

Salco, Inc. is a family owned business that started in the late 1960's on a part time basis. Sal Sanicola, the founder, and his 2 partners started out using a rented truck to make pallet pick-ups and deliveries. When the company first started, all pallet repairs were manually done in the basement of a building in downtown Milwaukee.

In 1971, the Company grew from a part time venture to a full time operation business and within 1 year it was incorporated as Salco, Inc. As Salco, Inc. expanded and gained recognition, it moved three times to secure a larger warehouse and an outdoor storage area in order to provide better services to its growing clientele.

In 1995, Sal's partners retired and Sal became sole owner. His son, Lou Sanicola joined him shortly thereafter to assist him in managing the company. Another major expansion occurred in 1996 when Salco Inc. opened a plant in Oak Creek, WI. Salco Inc. installed a fully automated pallet repair assembly line in the Oak Creek plant and since then has expanded not only its facility but also its fleet and its personnel, all in an effort to become a full service company that provides a wide array of solutions all under one roof.

Sal retired at the end of 2007 leaving behind a credible, reputable and well experienced company under the management of Lou who has expanded and maintained a loyal clientele throughout the years. Today, Salco Inc. has over 20 employees, 30 semi-trailers and a fleet of trucks that continues to grow to meet the demands and expectations of Salco’s customer base.  We are proud to announce that the Salco legacy continues expanding.  In 2016 Lou’s son, Joe, joined the company.

MISSION & VISION

At SALCO, we are committed to offering outstanding quality, customer service and timely deliveries to our customers no matter the size of their order. Our team is composed of loyal and experienced employees who will strive to assist our customers and provide the best and most cost effective solutions depending on our customer’s individual needs.

Our mission is to treat our customers as one more of our family members, to become their lifetime partner and to be the one-stop-shop for all of their pallets needs.

MANUFACTURING

Salco along with a variety of partners have manufacturing facilities that can meet any large quantity pallet order using automated pallet assembly. All of the pallet design specs are programmed into a computer system. Then precut stringers and deck boards are fed into the machine. The state-of-the-art pallet assembly machine can build up to 2,000 pallets per 8-hour shift depending on our customer’s individual needs and requirements.

Salco’s primary business is recycling 48" by 40" four-way pallets. We also recycle some additional size wooden pallets. The value of each of your buyable pallets is primarily dependent on the size and general condition of the pallet. The price will also depend on the quantity purchased and the presence of significant amounts of non-standard or non-reparable pallets.

As a service to our customers, we can also remove non-standard wooden pallets from their facilities. Wood from odd size pallets is reclaimed and reused in our recycling operations when possible. The non-reusable wood for pallets is sorted and shipped to another company, one of our partners, for processing into landscape wood chips, animal bedding, or alternative wood fuel.

  • We can usually process and deliver standard 48x40 orders within 1 business day.
  • Special size pallets and special orders may take longer to process and deliver.
  • Expedited service is available.
  • Please let us know if there is no loading dock, you need a pickup, or there are time constraints or other conditions we need to know to properly load and route the truck.
